Dominik Łazarz from the university press office assured that this was the only institution in this part of Poland that received such authorization.

"Until now, foreigners who wanted to take the exam, had to go to other cities. The closest ones were Kraków and Lublin" - noted Łazarz.

The university was granted the right to organize exams in Polish as a foreign language at levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 in the adult group, and in the children and young people group at levels A1, A2, B1 and B2.

Łazarz added that foreigners who apply for Polish citizenship or Polish Charter are required to submit proof of knowledge of the Polish language at the B1 level.

In addition, state certificate confirming the knowledge of the Polish language is an advantage for foreigners who want to work in Poland, and those who already work here. Some employers, for example, in health care or in the civil service more frequently require such certification of knowledge of the Polish language.

"Passing the exam also allows to score additional points in the recruitment process for foreigners who want to begin studies in Poland, as well as additional points for knowledge of a foreign language in the matriculation examination, which is recognized in some countries" - Łazarz emphasised.

He added that in connection with the received certification, later this year the university plans to open the Centre for Polish Language and Culture at the Centre for Foreign Languages at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów. Director of the university\'s Center for Foreign Languages, Dr. Roman Wisz revealed that the task of the new unit would be to disseminate the knowledge of the Polish culture and language among foreigners, as well as offer courses preparing for the state exam.
